| Description | This project aims to develop a web application that digitizes
audits on the child safety of social media (SM) apps. 1. Subtitle 1: Audit Subsystem (Student 1) - This part of the project focuses on the development of the Audit subsystem, which includes Audit Management module (for managing audit projects, features/flows to audit, audit guidelines and procedures, etc.), Auditing module (for conducting audit using the checklists generated by the Generator Subsystem and capturing the results of the audit) and Compliance Scoring module. This part of the project also covers the evaluation of the web application where it will be used to conduct audits on major SM apps and capture the audits’ results. Subtitle 2: Generator Subsystem (Student 2) - This part of the project focuses on the development of the Generator Subsystem that auto-generates a set of checklists in Audit Subsystem based on data uploaded to the Generator Subsystem. The data/set of checklists will be derived from at least 5 relevant guidelines/principles/standards, for e.g., the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) Dark Patterns Guidelines; usability heuristics/principles; Safety standard such as Australia eSafety Commissioner’s Safety-by-Design principles. This part of the project also covers the evaluation of the web application where it will be used to conduct audits on major SM apps and capture the audits’ results.
The project aligns with SDG Goal 16: Peace, Justice,
and Strong Institutions (Target 16.2 End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and
all forms of violence against and torture of children). |
