The main purpose of this project is to develop a device or system specifically for blind people. The system aims to detect potential hazards such as sharp objects, hot surfaces, and aggressive actions toward the user. When a specified hazard is detected, the system will alert the user accordingly. Alerts will be provided through audio speech and a vibrating device attached to the user's finger. The system can also estimate the distance between the detected object and the user. Additionally, it can detect falls and send an alert message to the user's family in such events. This system implements the concepts of IoT and Machine Learning, where IoT senses the physical world and sends data to Machine Learning for processing and output generation.
This project is conducted in collaboration with PERMIUM (Persatuan Mahasiswa Istimewa Universiti Malaya) as part of stakeholder collaboration initiatives. Various data gathering methods, including surveys and sessions with stakeholders, are used to collect the necessary knowledge and information to understand the features and requirements of the project. The project is being developed using the Waterfall methodology, which allows for easy modification and application. System analysis and design are carried out based on the project's requirements, such as detecting sharp objects, detecting hot surfaces, detecting falls, and generating real-time output.
