Medicinal plants, also known as medicinal herbs are used to treat various human diseases. The aim of the project is to develop a system to manage medicinal plant information and to evaluate the proposed system. A plant information system with functionalities to view product, display plant ethnobotanical uses, enable search by keyword and medicinal uses, include source reference and display statistics is developed with additional features like real time admin dashboard, rejection form and research data view permissions that could only be given by the site admin. Rapid application development (RAD) methodology is used to develop the project. Various testing techniques like system testing and user acceptance testing are also carried out to test and evaluate the system. The system also consists of error-handling techniques. The developed system enables the compilation and preservation of the medicinal plant information coupled with their medicinal uses and also images electronically for public education and also future research.
