Academic Projects plays a significant role in every student’s lives, thus there is a need for most universities to streamline this process. For FSKTM’s case, they have their own system in place, which is the Latihan Ilmiah website. However, there are still several problems such as outdated user interface, difficulty in applying titles and submit reports and no built-in meeting attendance tracker. Therefore, we propose a new online Academic Project Management System in collaboration with FSCIT Technovations that aims to resolve the issues stated above. The system aims to provide a repository of announcements, guideline, and project titles for students, to make it easier to apply for a title as well as to arrange meetings with their supervisor. For admins, we aim to make it easier for them to maintain the repository as well as modify the existing weightage and rubrics. For this project, we have investigated the methodology and determined that the Agile-based philosophy with the Kanban methodology works the best for our workflow due to its flexibility. As for the overall architecture, we are using a 3-tier client-server architecture using the MERN stack as the main technology that drives the system. We have also determined the functional requirements, which is divided into the Admin Module, Lecturer Module and the Student Module. I will be handling the IT Admin submodule as well as the Student Module. We have also defined a few submodules to be adhered to, as well as drafted out our mock interface and activity diagrams to illustrate how our system would work. We have also outlined the technical implementation of the finalized user interface and how the system works in a working environment. In conclusion, we have made an Academic Project Management system, but it can still be improved and fixed upon for future generations.
