From the past until the present, there are always numerous events happening at the University of Malaya (UM). However, for some of the events, the participation and engagement of students are low and unsatisfied. This is due to the event promotional activities are not effective. Besides, students in UM have difficulties in getting information on academic matters. Normally, students get information via social media and the UM system, such as the MAYA portal, faculty websites, and Spectrum. However, sometimes the information they get does not answer their doubts. This raises the problem that there is no centralized platform in UM for the event organizers to carry out event promotional activities to alert students about the event is happening and for students to inquire about academic matters. Therefore, to tackle the problem, a web-based news and information sharing system that allows students to blast and browse news and information about events and academic matters in UM centrally was proposed to develop. The novelty of this project is where the students can inquire to specific faculty anonymously and handle the events with our system at ease. The benefits of our system to society are that the system can improve the delivery of information within our university campus and facilitate better student participation and engagement in events.
