In contrast to previous mass media that included little to no participation from users, such as printed material or audio recordings, multimedia is a type of communication that mixes diverse content forms such as text, audio, images, animations, or video into a single interactive presentation. Augmented Reality (AR), videos and pictures are examples of multimedia substances that have been used in our modern daily life. For this project, we would like to develop a smart mobile application to help the community regardless of age restriction to enhance and encourage users to start practising home cooking with simple recipes while controlling their food intake and calories during this ongoing pandemic to help to practise a healthy lifestyle with while implementing multimedia elements such as pictures, videos and AR animation into the system in the application. According to the Malaysian newspaper, Malaysiakini (2021), Malaysians have been complaining about weight gains and unhealthy eating lifestyles, while obesity is already a major problem and issue even before the ongoing pandemic started. In this report, we will discuss the issue and propose a cooking assistant application as a solution for these problems and develop the system. The requirements for the project are identified and researched throughout the process based on data gathering and the supervisor’s advice.
