This project entitled “Peer to Peer Learning Platform” is proposed to develop an online mobile discussion-based application which could give University of Malaya undergraduate students a platform for effective knowledge sharing.

This mobile application enables students to participate in discussions relevant to their curriculum/ education/ career by posting questions and adding relevant comments to the questions posted which will eventually lead to effective knowledge sharing. This discussion feature also includes the involvement of lecturer with the purpose of improving the quality of discussions. Apart from that, this application provides a centralized data storage system which allow students to store study materials and at the same time to share the stored materials to the general feed where other students can experience the benefit from it. Furthermore, this application also comes along with a feature supporting mentor-mentee concept which enable students to guide another student in learning, which will eventually boost the confidence of students with the non-threatening learning environment.

The iterative development model was chosen as the software development approach for this project because it allows us to inherit a version that is easy to alter by ensuring that every new iteration is better than the prior version, as well as easy adaptation when needs change. To elicit the needs for our project, we performed an online survey with University of Malaya undergraduate students and an interview session with our stakeholder. We drafted 14 modules to be used in this application based on the requirements. The system's design would be based on current similar systems that we have evaluated in order to guarantee that the system is user-friendly. To provide the greatest user experience, the system interface will be as basic as feasible.
