Academicians in Malaysia face problems when planning for their research and following the deadlines for grants. Some other issues come in the form of collaborations either within the same or different domain and absence of a comprehensive planner (e.g., reminder, task distribution, schedule etc.). As a result, an academic research planner system was proposed to address all the previously stated challenges. The purpose of this project is to design a system that can help automate major parts of the planning process for either a grant application or a journal publication. Moreover, it can increase their productivity and streamline their research workflow, ultimately leading to more successful research outcomes. In addition, a centralized reminder module is incorporated into the system to ensure that they are always right on track. On top of that, a recommendation system for journals is also integrated to increase the acceptance rate of the submitted academic research. This paper also discusses what software development tools were included and UML diagrams that follow which depicts the flow of the system. Surveys among potential target users and interviews with stakeholders were conducted to elicit the necessary requirements for the proposed system. To validate and verify the user requirements, agile kanban methodology was used as it focuses on both iterative and incremental approaches in fulfilling the requirements. As regards to all the above, all detailed specifications and designs for the proposed system are written clearly below in the paper.
